Prestigious award: Global Bank of the Year received ING Bank

ING Bank was named best global bank and obtained award Global Bank of the Year 2016. This prestigious Best Bank Awards are annually given to the banking institutions by the magazine The Banker.

ING Bank can be proud of receiving the most prestigious award for the best global bank, which was announced on festive ceremony in London on 7th December 2016. “I am honoured to accept this award in the name of all my colleagues,” said vice-chairman of ING Koos Timmermans, who attended the gala ceremony. “It is the result of the hard work of all our 52,000 employees around the world. These awards are real motivation for us to continue innovating and improving, and to continue to bring our clients better and better services.”

In judging over 1000 entries from around the world, the jury evaluated the banks’ results, their performance and growth during the past year. All banks were required to present a number of details concerning their business, on technological, innovation, and marketing initiatives.

In its decision, The Banker magazine stated: “We congratulate ING Bank for becoming the global and Western European bank of the year for 2016. ING Bank presented a set of solid results accompanied by a leading investment strategy in the areas of technology, innovation, and client services orientation. Overall, it was a true recipe for victory.”

ING Bank exists in the Czech Republic already 25 years. During this period of time the bank has established a strong position not only among the corporate business clients but also within the broad public, focusing on saving and investing financial products. ING Bank has more then 400 thousand clients, who appreciate a strong background of the company, quality of service and innovative approach. “ I am very proud of this award and I am convinced that our innovative and client oriented approach is the right way for the sustainable growth even in the Czech Republic,” says Isold Heemstra, CEO ING Bank Czech Republic.

The Banker magazine is part of the Financial Times Group and has been monitoring the global financial sector since 1926. Its publication activity is a source of key data and analyses of the sector, and serves as a widely used indicator for the entire global banking sector.
