The Embassy supported the 6th edition of reSITE, an international conference and a public festival with discussions and workshops in the field of livable, competitive and resilient cities.

Caroline Bos of UN Studio presented a.o. her project of Arnhem Central Transfer Terminal. Winy Maas from MVRDV inspired the audience with his bold vision of future cities, citing also his project of the Stairs to Kriterion in Rotterdam. A workshop of Coen Bergman and Gijs Boerwinkel from Waag Society, entitled the Smart Citizens Lab, looked at the methods to collect environmental data around us.

reSITE 2017 focused on how the invisible shapes the visible in a city. The focus was on where design meets infrastructure and the presence of these vital systems in the architecture and landscape of cities. The conference explored factors that make a city functional, that drive the economy and consume a consequent part of municipal budgets - despite being invisible like technical infrastructure such. The speakers presented and debated the urban landscapes, buildings, networks, and social participation processes that help define urban design of the future.
