"Cocktail trends are like fashion. Bar gastronomy goes back to 1933 when prohibition finally ended in the United States and bartenders all around the world started to create delicate and increasingly sophisticated cocktails based on gin, vodka, rum and brandy. Cocktails inspired by the Golden Era are experiencing a renaissance these days, which I have also witnessed during my recent trip to London.Therefore I have decided to enhance our traditional cocktail list based on fresh fruits with drinks inspired by the Golden Age, “ said Roman Uhlíř, Cloud 9 master bartender and manager.
For those who fancy full flavours, Roman recommends Absolut Prague based on Absolut Elyx vodka accompanied by Carpano Antica Formula red vermouth, for those who prefer more subtle tastes, there is a must try – the mystical Da Vinci Code, which includes Martell Cognac VSOP, Port wine, tequila Patron XO, coffee liqueur, salty caramel syrup and super premium Alto Grande coffee beans.
Cloud 9 signature cocktails created by Roman Uhlíř remain on the menu. There is a choice of seven of the most favourite drinks since the bar opening in 2008, which reflect the concept of Cloud 9 cocktails based on fresh fruit and premium spirits. On top of the list there is the iconic Charisma cocktail with Peppar vodka, melon liqueur and cranberry juice garnished with chili peppers, strawberries and basil. Additionally, Cloud 9 guests can now enjoy signature cocktails in double portions when the second dose is served in a shaker to be poured at the table or the bar.
Wide range of non-alcoholic cocktails was complemented by Virgin Apple Fever based on horseradish and apple puree or Lobster with a hint of vanilla and cranberries.
In addition, the menu offers 15 most popular cocktails from around the world. Their basic recipes were enhanced by Roman and his team, using premium ingredients and latest trends in bar gastronomy. If still a guest cannot choose any cocktail from the menu, the experienced team of bartenders is ready to mix a drink based on wishes and preferences of the client.
The food menu has also been amended. Innovative food concept remained and more dishes ideal for sharing with friends over a drink were added to the basic selection, together with burgers or grilled meat. At Cloud 9 bar & lounge guests can sample such new delicacies as Pancakes with forest mushrooms, spinach and Stilton cheese or Gratin Manchego cheese, chorizo and grilled artichokes with balsamic onions or Bruschetta with foie gras terrine, pistachio and caramelized mango. All of these treats can be served as part of the Cloud 9 Combination Platters.
Since June, Cloud 9 is one of the first non-smoking bars in Prague.
