Huisman, a global leader in the development and manufacturing of heavy structures, is entering the port logistics market by supplying a series of Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) to Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam, one of Europe's leading container terminal operators. These cranes, which need to handle 4 million cycles over 30 years, will serve to efficiently manage shipping containers in the port. The Huisman Czech Republic plant in Sviadnov will be responsible for all welding work, among other tasks.

Automated stacking cranes ensure a fully automated process for container handling and stacking. The cranes will provide a reliable solution to enhance operational efficiency, which is essential for the continuous operations at the Port of Rotterdam. David Roodenburg, CEO of Huisman, emphasized, "We are very grateful to ECT for this contract, which allows us to enter the port logistics sector. Four million continuous handling cycles over 30 years require high-quality equipment. Huisman's focus on quality and reliability aligns with ECT's high standards. With our proven experience in offshore cranes, we bring nearly a century of know-how to this industry. We are pleased to manufacture these cranes in our European facilities, and we have full confidence in our ability to ensure the successful delivery of the entire series."

Huisman has strategically divided the production of the automated stacking cranes among its European plants. All welding work and pre-assembly will take place at the Huisman Czech Republic plant in Sviadnov. "In previous projects, we have demonstrated that we can handle large construction challenges here in Sviadnov, so I firmly believe that we will manage this new experience in the port logistics sector, which has great potential for the future," said Karel Pavlíček, Managing Director of the Huisman Czech Republic plant.

The final assembly of the cranes will take place in Schiedam, Netherlands, with assembly and testing directly at the ECT Delta terminal in Rotterdam. The diversification into port equipment automation highlights Huisman's commitment to providing top-tier solutions in various industries by leveraging its own technical and manufacturing expertise.
