This marks the initial phase of extensive investments into green energy

Huisman Czech Republic has commenced operations of its first photovoltaic power plant within its development and manufacturing complex in Sviadnov near Frýdek-Místek. Nearly 50 kWp of photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roof of the administrative building. Over the coming years, Huisman Czech Republic plans to commission over 2,000 solar panels with a total capacity of around 930 kWp. The comprehensive investment in these solar power plants will amount to tens of millions of CZK, including accessories and roof structure adjustments.

"Gradually increasing energy self-sufficiency is a significant strategic investment project at our Sviadnov plant, alongside regular investments in production modernization and improving quality and safety at work," said Karel Pavlíček, Managing Director of Huisman Czech Republic. He added, "We believe this investment will pay off through reduced operational costs, increased energy self-sufficiency, and contribute to environmental protection, which is an integral part of our corporate culture."

The processing of all permits and documentation, including the project itself, took approximately one year for the first phase. Installation of the initial photovoltaic panels on the administrative building commenced in April 2024. By May 2024, the first operational month of the solar power plant, nearly 4 MWh of energy was generated. "We installed a total of 108 panels on the building's roof, each with a capacity of 460 Wp, achieving a total capacity of 49.68 kWp. These panels are mounted on a modular self-supporting system made of aluminum profiles and additionally equipped with power optimizers to optimize performance," said David Beneš, Facility and Maintenance Leader at Huisman Czech Republic.

In the coming years, Huisman Czech Republic plans to equip other buildings in its Sviadnov complex with solar panels. The concept includes approximately 2,000 solar panels capable of producing around 879 MWh of electricity annually, potentially saving up to 450 tons of CO2 emissions compared to conventional sources. "Our strategic goal is to have photovoltaic power plants at Huisman Czech Republic with a total capacity of around 930 kWp, covering approximately 35% of our production facility's daily consumption," added Karel Pavlíček.
