On Saturday, 19 September, streets in 60 Prague locations and additional 10 Czech towns became alive thanks to Different City Experience neighbour festivities. This largest community festival in the Czech Republic, initiated by Prague organization Auto*Mat, completely transformed almost 100 places, which are usually overcrowded with cars, into zones full of live music, dance, activities for children, street theaters, stalls with homemade goodies and, above all, pleasant neighbour atmosphere for one entire day. In Prague, one could choose from an almost endless list of activities held both in small, quiet, sparsely populated areas, as well as typical festival zones with rich cultural program, such as Krymská street or the area in front of BIO OKO. However, it was not only Prague that became alive. For instance, Ostrava has joined the initiative for the fourth time and neighbour festivities took place in three different areas. Additional islands of community gatherings came to life in Olomouc, Hradec Králové, Ústí nad Labem, Český Krumlov, Roudnice nad Labem, Mnichovo Hradiště, Frýdek-Místek, Havířov and Krnov.
Auto*Mat and Prague 7 are planning a pilot project, which should enable to organize non-commercial activities similar to Different City Experience anytime throughout the year.
