THE UKRAINE-CZECH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (UKRCHAM) ESTABLISHED. IT WILL CONNECT COMPANIES FROM BOTH COUNTRIES.

May 11, 2022, Prague

The Ukrainian and Czech markets represent a huge potential that the Chamber wants to use significantly better. The initiator of the Chamber is the president of the Netherlands-Czech Chamber of Commerce (NCCC), which is already established in the Czech Republic. The new Chamber worked together with Ukrainian and Czech officials for several weeks so that it could join the support of Ukrainian-Czech activities now and after the war as soon as possible. Ukrainian and Czech companies deserve such an organization and representation, and UKRCHAM will be one of the other important chambers of commerce in the Czech Republic. The current annual volume of mutual trade between the Czech Republic and Ukraine is 70 billion crowns and it can be assumed that it will grow multiply in the coming years.

In the case of Ukrainian companies, it can be expected that after the end of the conflict they will focus much more strongly on Western markets, including the Czech Republic and the rest of Europe. Ukraine itself will need companies to engage in post-war reconstruction. There is scope for cooperation in a wide range of sectors, such as industry, agriculture and food and engineering. At present, mainly raw materials, such as iron ore or wood, are imported to the Czech Republic, and exports are largely cars, industrial equipment, electronics and cosmetics.

"The Chamber wants to be a connection point between the Ukrainian business community in the Czech Republic and the Ukrainian-Czech common business interests in the European environment. We will connect people and society, which will both open up new opportunities and make it easier for them to work together towards official authorities and political representation, ”explains Pavel Iványi, President of the NCCC, which initiated the establishment of the Ukrainian-Czech Chamber of Commerce.

"The chamber already has ten members and others are currently negotiating accession. Members include Agromino, RAVAK, LitFin Capital, Peterka Partners, BNG, EY, ProFid and the ING financial group. Dozens of other companies are involved in the process, "said NCCC Director Bastiaan Brouns, who, together with the Ukrainian Embassy, addresses potential members. "Our role will be primarily to provide advice and support based on our 30 years of experience with the NCCC," he adds.

The establishment of the Chamber is supported by the Embassy of Ukraine, which will be represented on the Chamber's Board of Directors.

"The establishment of the Ukrainian-Czech Chamber of Commerce is a step into the future of Ukrainian-Czech relations. Ukraine, which is heroically facing Russian aggression, is now going through difficult times. Victory cannot be done without the extensive support of her friends, so that she can renew and build her infrastructure. We expect the active participation of Czech business in this process and the Chamber, in my opinion, plays a key role here ", said the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Czech Republic Yevhen Perebyjnis.

"Apart from the business dimension, it is a matter of fighting for our freedom in Ukraine, and that is why we must work together. Ukraine belongs to both the EU and NATO, because we will be stronger with it. I believe that the chamber will contribute to this, "said the newly elected president of UKRCHAM, Petr Krogman, who is the owner of the Czech-Ukrainian agricultural company Agromino.
