With spring coming another year of the Bike to Work competition is knocking on your door. Whether or not you want to increase your fitness, improve your mood, or stop losing time in traffic jams, encouraging team spirit at your work and joining the competition is absolutely worth it.

Teams and individuals can win valuable prizes in competition categories such as regularity, performance (mileage) or creativity. Companies with the best conditions for cycling will vie for the title of Cycle-employer of the year. In 2014 there were almost six thousand participants from 912 companies in 19 cities competing in this campaign. This year already 27 cities will participate and brighten up their streets in May with hundreds of cyclists.

Auto*Mat, a non-profit civic association is organizing this project with the help of local organizers from participating cities. We are excited to announce some interesting news for the fifth year of the competition. A special emissions calculator will show each participant how much of which harmful pollutant they have spared with each kilometre riding on their bike. We hope to illustrate the effect of our everyday transportation habits on the environment and our health. Participants in Prague will have the opportunity to try a brand new application for smartphones which will help them find the best bike route to work and record the mileage into the competition’s system.

The first two hundred registered participants will receive not only a stylish T-shirt, but also special sport headphones from TDK. If a participant registers before the end of March, the registration fee will be at least 50 crowns less than later on. Make sure not to hesitate and register soon with your colleagues at www.dopracenakole.net.

We are very thankful to many Dutch companies without their generous support this project would not be possible to organize. Above all thanks to TNT Express, our great general partner who delivers starter packs with T-shirts to thousands of participants, to the Netherlands Embassy, our traditional partner who helps promote the idea of sustainable transport across the Czech Republic, and ING Bank.
